RIP REMI

Passed away this day. I'll miss you, Fuzz Butt. I'm glad we had a cuddle yesterday before I went to work. I'm glad I told you I love you. You were the single best ferret that there ever was. I will NEVEr forget the first time I saw you, tumbling out of my laundry pile on that hot summer day. I'll never forget the war dance. The craziness. The loving and super sweet nature you always showed. I'll never forget how we made that car ount the curb when I was out walking you, or how we made those two kids crash into each other on their push bikes. I'll never forget how I'd have to eat my lunch standing up unless I wanted to share with you. Or how much you loooooved chicken noodle soup. I'll never forget the trust you showed in me when you got so so terribly sick, and how you looked at me as if to say 'no, I want to keep fighting, mum' when I had to make the decision back then.  I guess it was time to stop fighting. I'm glad you died fat, shiny, warm, clean and on your own terms.
Good bye, darlin'.

I almost lost Remi last night

I have had an extremely emotional couple of day, you know? First that crap with Klaire, then the fire and then last night. I gave Remi his dinner at about 3pm, all was well. I went out again at about 7:30pm to check on him before I settled for the evening. His hutch was covered with BLOOD! I FREAKED! I quickly pulled him out, his bottom was soggy with waste and blood. I ran inside yelling for Al, quickly washed off his back end to see if there were any inuries while Al got his shoes on and the car started. Couldn't see a thing. Rushed down to the AEC. Remi's breathing was extremely shallow, he wasn't responding to anything and he was cool to the touch. I he;d him close and whispered to him as Al drove like a madman to the vets. Every now and again Remi would raise his head, eyes still closed, like he was trying to get closer, The vet nurse quickly grabbed him when we arrived, he got put on fluids and a heat pad. It wasn't looking real good. The vet came out and it was Dr Gerry again! The same vet who treats Rosie. She recognised me right away. We couldn't work out what on earth was wrong with him but it had all the signs of rat-bait poisoning. I have NO idea how the hell he would have gotten anywhere neat any poison.  I don't use bait, that;s why I have dogs and a cat. No one had been in the yard to poison him, we were home and so were the dogs and besides which my neighbours are really nice and wouldn't do anything like that in their wildest dreams. The only thing we can think is that someone treated their garden and the poison drifted over into my yard and got into Remi's food or something. So we treated it like poison. I had 3 options. 1. leave him at the vets overnight and they would drip him and do tests, 2. take him home and treat him systematically 3. put him to sleep. It was so bad I seriously considered putting him down, but when they brought him in to me he perked up and cuddled in close. I thought, no, we have to give him a fighting chance. Gerry said there was nothing they could do there that I couldn't do at home so I took him home, with strict instructions to bring him back if I needed to. He was heavily sedated and treated for poison, a very invasive procedure. Poor little thing. I cuddled him for hours when we got home until I fell asleep on the couch. Al got me to bed and put Remi in a blanket filled washing basket next to me on the ground. I kept waking up to check on him. I had to hold him up while he drank, but at least he took some water. About 4am I woke up yet again andhe was gone, I looked around and found him by the cat food bowl chowing down!!!! THAT'S A VERY VERY GOOD SIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He also had an explore around the bedroom and harassed the cat a little. He's much more withit today, eating and drinking and can control his legs again. He's still very weak and we're far from out of the woods yet, but it's looking better. He'll be sleeping a lot, and I'm keeping an eagle eye on him. Keep your fingers crossed for my little guy, folks!

Zodiac pets (it's a very large post!!!!)

So Blitzen on Equestrian (where I'm having a good fight about racing btw) but up a few sites that gauge how well you fit withyour pet based on star signs. It's a little hard for me to know exactly which star sign each of my pets are since I onlyknow Desi's and Pokie's exact birthdates, but I've taken some educated guess. Under cut so I don't crash your Flist.
