earthquake

so just sitting here watching the Yankees slaughter the Braves, when heard this grrrrrrooooombbbb type sound, then the house shook like crazy. then this awful shaking feeling that went for at least a minute. Yuck. I didn't like. 5.2 on the scale. Bleh!

It was pretty shaky for a Melbourne earthquake. Lucky we don't have big one's here.

it was a pretty strong one, and it lasted for quite a while too. I've felt the little ones before, but that was a bit different.

Yikes! Glad everything is ok and it wasn't stronger.

Nah all good, everyone's joking about it and creating meme's....we tend to not take ourselves terribly seriously down this way :D

Ugh, I'm so happy we don't get earthquakes in Poland!

Glad you're okay.

you do tho :) They're just so deep you guys can't feel them :D Everything fine here, just didn't feel nice. Almosy wish we had a REAL shaker rather than these little annoying ones, so that we all had a real reason to freak out. Everyone sort of went EEEEEEEK and then were all sheepish that we'd gotten such a fright; our close neighbours in NZ had a terrible one not long ago so we're all very nervous about them - not that we'd ever admit it :D

I'd rather we didn't have a real one. The little ones are just fine. Last thing we need is damage to our homes, infrastructure.

AGREED!

[identity profile] maggies-lens.livejournal.com 2012-06-19 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes...yes quite :D I do believe I may have let out a muffled little squeak of surprise at the start of the event ;)

pfft. NOTHING HAPPENED!!! Melbourne loves a good over reaction.

Didn't feel a thing, the neighbours phoned up saying OMG ARE YOU OKAY ... I thought she must have been drinking until I checked Facebook, lol!

Seriously you didn't feel it???? You may have been a bit further from the epicenter than us here but let me tell you, I def felt it, alright :D It was quite unpleasant, tbh. It kind of felt like that rocking feeling you sometimes get when you are really tired or JUST about to drop off to sleep. Can't say I enjoyed the experiance. What I AM enjoying is the mickey-taking we're having about it all, I love the Melbourne self-mocking sense of humour :D

I'm loving the reaction too. Hilarious.

It's weird we didn't feel it because the next door neighbours certainly did and were quite worried- hence phoned immediately to see if we were okay- didn't feel a thing! The dogs didn't move, the cats didn't move. I have no idea how it could have been felt 50 meters away and yet not in our house!!!
