There's Nothing Like Australia

1. It sounds like the theme from Mickey Mouse Club from my childhood
2. Koala's are NOT FUCKING BEARS!
3. Kangaroo's hang around in MOBS, not herds

And this is how we market ourselves to the world. In a badly editted, crappy sung little jingle. Ay ay ay...

To be fair, the guy next to the lady holding the koala did pipe up, "It's not a bear" ... just not that loudly, haha. And they said herds to rhyme with birds, but that doesn't mean it's excusable. And yeah, crappy jingle, but it still makes me want to come back, haha!

Yeah but it was so quiet and makes us look as if we were a bit thick. It's like a Canadian holding up a moose and saying 'look! A Walrus!'
:D

well as for Koala's not being bears, the park ranger-esk guy does go "...thats not a bear!" in the background LOL

and i dont know if this is a bad thing but it does make me want to go there (because of the scenery they DO show off!)

They they do but it's way too quiet, it makes us look so uneducated.
But yeah, this is def a very beautiful country. Yuo know the part where the two guys are basking outside a big tower thingy? That's Flinders Street Station, those steps and the towers you cans ee are iconic for Melbourne. :)

** hangs head in shame **

How much of our tax dollars went into making THAT?!

*sigh* How embarrassing.

Oh, and did you catch the guy in a shirt walk up next to the koala-wielding women mumble quickly "That's not a bear." That was the best bit, only because I was looking out for it. ;)

I too, totally hear the Micky Mouse song.

I don't even want to know how much they spent. I bet with the amount they DID spend the average Australian could have done a better job. They did a spoof on Hey Hey last night which was much much better and they would have only had a day or two to make it.
Yeah, I caught the ranger saying that but it was too quiet... makes us looks as if we were so stupid we didn't know the basic facts about our national symbols. God, what next.... emu's are related to spider monkies?
I can hear a little of Up There, Kazalie and Advance Australia Fair but it's too mixed up. It's... too much... and really how many ppl outside of here would even KNOW the first one???

The guy does say 'That's not a bear!' it sort of makes it a joke ...
but ... it's pretty pathetic. I realize it's trying to market for the US and Japan but they also assume that people in the US and Japan, um, don't have too much in the way of brains. Because it's cutsey but childish and lame.
Hell, that telstra ad would have done a better!
There IS good stuff in this country, but how do you market it? Tough call.
