Feb. 6th, 2008 11:30 amWindy_withers put a challenge up in Backyard horse and equestrain to do something extra nice for our horsies today, just coz we can.
Well, I did it! After I got back from the TO to the dude who tried to blow himself up anyway. For some stupid reason my paddock key is starting to not work. I think I need to re-cut it. Anyway, Danny was very much in a 'LEAVE ME ALONE!' sort of mood, not sure what was happening there but sometimes he gets like that. I respect it and leave him be after a quick check to make sure all is well. He got two apples instead of one and a big hug which he just had to put up with before I let him go. Desi was QUITE happy to be getting that little bit extra! She was def not in bitch-mare mood today. It's blackberry season here and Desi adores them, but the prickles hurt her delicate little teacup of a nose so she can't really get at them much. So I got an old ice-cream bucket and went a bit nuts. Spent the better part of an hour picking blackberries from various parts of the gelding's big paddock and from along our fence line. Then I took them to Desi. You should have SEEN her face! OMG! Her eye got all crinkly and her eartips were almost touching they were so pricked forward. She BURIED her muzzle in the berries and practically INHALED them! LOL!!! So cute. I think she'll be pooing purple for a while. Then I gave her a good rub and scratch in ALL her favourite places; behind her ears, in her ears, on either side of her tail, on top of her tail, between her front legs and along her shoulder blades where they meet her neck. My god talk about a happy horsey! It's gonna take me weeks to get the dirt out from under my nalis but at least I got a very good workout from it. Desi's quite funny how she asks for her bottom to be scratched, she scares people! They think this horse who is rapidly walking backwards towards them and letting out little squeaks is going to kick them. When ppl run away Desi gets all offended. I know what she's after and give her a good rub. She leans riiiight into your hands, humps her back and throws her head up and down. It's very cute. She'll also pull her tail to the right when she wants that scratched as well. Funny little mare. Wish the weather would decide if it wants to rain or not, wouldn't mind giving both horses a really good bath at some stage soon, they're both disgusting at the moment. Hooves are looking very good tho.
