Now: I may have mentioned, probably with much evil giggling, the birds that have been nesting in the rock garden of the carpark next door to work. They provide me and the rest of the coms room with endless amusement because the little bastards SWOOP like the devil itself. They are Masked Lapwings, commonly called Plovers (Vanellus miles). And they are VICIOUS! Well, not vicious, just very, very good parents. Can't hold that against an animal, can you? So of course Maggie views this as a challenge. :) It's taken me weeks of extremely careful approach but I did it. I have gained the trust of the demon birds. Check it out :) And in case you are wondering, yep these were taken from about six or so steps away and in the car. That's the parent birds comfort zone and I don't intend to break it. Last thing I need is to be hand raising 3 baby birds :P

The proud parents and one of the hatchlings. He's about 2 or 3 days old. Yep, they are hatched ready to run :)
( PREPARE FOR CUTE OVERLOAD!!!! )
I kinda proud of those shots. Birds are notoriously difficult to photograph, esp the active baby variety!
Spam - work review
Jun. 5th, 2010 08:17 pmGot in tonight and saw there is an invite to attend my perfomance review on the 16th to discuss my "goals'. Yeah they actually wrote it like that. Like it is some sort of joke. Yeah my "goals" are to get as far from this crappy management as possible. That should go over well. I think I will say I want help to move within the company i.e out of dispatch. They are obliged to help me learn other aspects of Theiss if I ask. So I'm going to. I can't handle the lonliness on weekdays when everyone is at work, missing out on seeing everyone on weekends and having to deal with the attitude in here. I have options. Time to use them.
I will endeavour to put it far more diplomatically than that.
Sadness, project 365 and a work WTF
Jan. 29th, 2010 05:15 pmDamn it, crying now.
TO CHEER MYSELF UP! Here's todays 365. I'm rather proud of it. Who doesn't love a cute wee bunny?

( bigger, plus one )
There was quite some fuckery at work last night too. Under the cut for anyone who wants a raised eye brow moment.
( if you are going to prank call work, don't use your own mobile number... )
Oh and this is for Tanya and all those ferrety fans out there :-D
Well this is just ducky
Oct. 8th, 2008 07:53 pmAdam showed me the new propsed roster.
Currently I work 4 days on from 6am to 6pm, then I have two days off. Then I go in for 4 night shifts 6pm to 6am. That is followed by 6 days off. Which is really 5 days off. It works well, we're all rested and sane. The new roster says two days on, followed right away with two nights on, then 4 days off, which is really 3. SCREW THAT!!!! Your body suffers badly enough with a rotating roster. To do quick change overs would totally srew me over. And to make it even better? I would be taking over from Gregg every single god damned shift. EVERY single shift. Gregg upsets the guys no end, it takes me ages to settle them down, if I even can. He leaves the running sheet looking like crap. There are missed jobs which I have to try and scramble to make. Everything is fucked up.
As you all can probably guess I am NOT impressed. Made myself quite clear to Adam that I will NOT be backing the proposed changes and that I am dead set against them and why. He said it would make it so much easier to fill the roster if it changes. Why the HELL would I want to screw my body up just to make life easier for THEM?!?!?!
Guess I'll be looking at other options if it goes ahead.
They know that too.
Bloody Pumpkin Pie
Apr. 19th, 2008 11:33 amSo guess the idiot who said yes when the phone rang at 0550 this morning. *-_-
Jeremy is 'ill' apparently. Yeah right. Jeremy wanted a couple days off to enjoy the sunshine is what Jeremy wanted.
He called here at 4am. So at least Gregg gave me a chance to sleep a little longer. I emailed Adam to let him know I was here, and I don't think he was too happy. Oh happy that I was here, unhappy that Gregg/Jeremy hadn't called him first. Dunno why, now that I think of it, it was a little odd. Oh well, a little overtime never killed anyone. Esp since Melissa has gone to the country and Al has gone to do OT as well. We WERE planning on going to the zoo, but I guess it's better to MAKE money than spend it. Esp since next month and then the next two after that are going to be hell on earth.
Dinner was good yesterday. I make DAMN good pumpkin pie :-) The food processor packed up and died on me so I had to crush the cookies by hand which was ... fun. Then I had to use the little food whirly thing which isn't designed for that. I'd cleaned the house up really well beforehand, after about 10mins there were cookie crumbs EVERYWHERE. Thank god for labradors.
Cutting up pumpkins is a bit of a bitch too!!!! I don't know HOW the HELL you American lot carve pumpkins. I'd have to use an electric saw, I think. I was cutting the flesh away from the skin on a piece I'd cut out when the damn knife flicked off the flesh, skittled down the skin and right across my hand.
Yeah.
Ow.
Much swearing, quick dash to the sink, wrap hand in now-ruined dishtowel. More swearing while applyng liberal amounts of disinfectant.
I have dubbed the dish Bloody Pumpkin Pie. Not that any got into the mix. Got the salad, chicken and table all organised PLUS had the pie in the oven all well within time. :-) Zippers arrived, followed shortly after by Al, and we had a very pleasent evening. The pie was a total HIT!!!!! My GOD!!!!! I served it up pipping hot fresh from the oven. Good lord it was RICH! Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Can't believe I've never had it before. The receipe said to put whipped cream and maple syrup on top but I'd glad I didn't because holly hell t hat would have killed us all. As it was, I think my insulin levels would have smacked the moon down. :-D
So yes, big, big success. I even took photos which I was going to put up this morning but obviously didn't have time to upload, so I'll pop them up probably tomorrow.
Hope you are all having a good day/night :-)
Al came to visit me at work at the end of his shift... on the back of one of those new tri-cycles. These have just been approved here in Australia as road bikes. Weirdest looking things you have ever seen. Two wheels at the front, one at the back. The body sort of swings so you still lean around cnrs, and the 250cc version locks when you stop at lights so it stays upright. The 500cc one you lock manually or can leave free. We went for a hoon before work. MY GOD! It's soooo much fun!!!!!!! Very comfy and very quick, and peoplem were STARING at us! Al and I were killing ourselves laughing at the reactions we were getting. Guys were walking backwards into cars, drivers were gaping, passengers were giving themselves whiplash, and bike riders were almost coming off. It was bloody HILARIOUS! Just what I needed; I've been very down lately. I took pics of the scooter, under the cit, enjoy.
