Izi ended up is hospital last night. She has had a very bad cold and yet Diana insisted on taking her to child care. Says it builds up her immunity. Um no, letting her body have a rest from constant exposure to pathogens so she can face the next lot with a strong and viable immune system will help build up her immunity. I don't have kids and even I know that! GAH! Anyway, poor baby started having issues breathing. So she took her to the dr who advised her to take her straight to hospital. There they put her on a ventilator to help her breathe. She is so stuffed full of pathogens they can't even tell what's wrong with her 100%. Either she has whooping cough which is going around at the moment, or she has the start of asthma which is possible as I believe Diana suffered it in her youth (no one in my family has, we get bred quite strong, us nature nerd families). I don't know WHY but it seems like almost every Australian kid gets asthma. Is it the pollen from the trees? Is it genetic? Something else in the atmosphere? When I was at school I think I was the only white kid all through high school who never once had even a vague need for an inhaler. *shrug* I haz TIGHT genetics :P or more likely, very good luck. Anyway, Izi is home and is not permitted back to childcare for at least a week, esp if it's whooping cough which, from what I understand, is extremely catching and can be very, very serious. Also they said it could be croup, I have no idea about that but I assume it's also infectious? Either way she needs time to recover. D's mum has her on Monday but my parents are going over there to take care of her as D's mum also has a cold and is run-down. Tuesday the same, I think, and Wednesday it looks like possibly I 'll be baby sitting her. Still waiting to hear back re that. Prob will go over to their house to do that. Much easier; everything I need will be there. I can just take a book to amuse myself while she sleeps etc.
In other news, my geriatric gelding is a PITA :D A very, very naughty cheeky little PITA, aparently. He's always had his games, esp when it comes to being caught,. We have each other worked out. He knows how far he can push me. But he clearly has decided Melissa is next in line for some testing, the little shit. He was an ass to catch last time she went to get him until I went down there and gave him the fish eye, then he stood there all sweetness and light, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. Apparently on Saturday when I was at work and M was getting the horses ready for John the Magic Farrier, he was a BASTARD! REFUSED point blank to be caught. So he ended up not gettng trimmed or measured up for his Cavallo's. I can just imagine what his behaviour wasl ike. I thought when they get old they are meant to SETTLE DOWN and behave :D I know it would have been annoying as hell for M but I couldn't help but get the giggles when I got the sms. SUCH a bad, bad boy. Good to know he's feeling good enough to be a little shit ;) Next time, I'll corral him in with Mocha and Soli to make him a bit easier to catch, and I'll leave his halter on.
Kind of makes me feel all special that he comes walking up to me, nickering his deep old man nicker, these days. Actually both horses have been very affectionate lately. Desi has been doing her usual 'omg I'm so happy to see you!' nicker which I ADORE too. Awwwwww, my ponies LOVE me!!! :D
