Being a pawrent is a tall order in this world. Not only are you tasked with the trouble of working through the week, but in all and any of the limited free time you actually have leftover, you end up caring and chasing after your cat or hooman child. And with all that calamity and chaos surrounding you the very first thing you need is just one simple and sweet minute to yourself.

Which is exactly what we figured you might need, and so we made this list of chill cat memes for pawrents such as yourselves who just need a minute. Because there is nothing more restorative and refreshing than being reminded that cat and hooman children can be chill, and that if you keep on keeping on, you too might manage to make it to the point where your child calms down too.

As a fellow feline fanatic, we are not afraid to admit that we do a lot of weird things with our cats. We sing them made-up songs on the daily. We kiss their smelly, tuna mouth gladly. We let them sleep on our faces at night, knowing full well that their paws are disgusting. We dress them up in awwdorable outfits and let them walk down their own purrsonal catwalk. But we have never licked our cats. Although the thought has crossed our minds before.

We mean, it kind of makes sense. Cats lick things all the time. They seem to enjoy it. Maybe one day, we will try it on one of our own cats, but certainly not a stranger's cat. Well, that's what this Missouri homeowner found when perusing his purrfectly normal door-cam footage… until he found out it wasn't normal at all. Ah, the story of the cat hater. We have heard many of those. People keep telling us that they hate cats, but we know the truth… We, real cat people, know that they simply have not met the right cat yet. Yes, it is that simple. Cats can win anyone over. We have seen it time and time again. We've seen dads who've hated cats their whole lives suddenly get adopted by a cat and fall in love with them. This feline fairytale started with a surprise ambush… of the adorable kind. While out on a walk, a stray kitten scaled this cat guardian like a tree and refused to be ignored, meowing at their door until they finally gave in. Since then, he's claimed the household as his own, complete with cuddles, intense eye contact, and enough charm to win over both the human and their husband.

The catch? They already have two pampered rescue cats, and adding a third could tip the balance from cozy to chaotic. To buy time, they enrolled him in a foster program with a three-month adoption deadline. If no one claims him, he officially becomes part of the family.

The heart says keep him. After all, he did climb his way in like it was destiny. But the brain says wait and see, because three cats means triple the vet bills, litter, and long-term commitment. Still, when a kitten chooses you, it's hard not to feel like the universe is trying to tell you something. For now, he's got a warm place to stay and a shot at becoming the household's third purring prince.

Just because you don't speak the same language as you pet cat doesn't mean you can't communicate with them. They might not understand the utterly human things we try to communicate, like critical thought, philosophy, etc. But they can definitely catch vibes—better than some humans can! So don't ever stop trying to talk to your furry feline friend! They only meow to us humans because they know we use mouth noises to communicate. Sure, it's not in any language we know, but they're trying their best! It's the least we can do to try our best. In fact, go ahead and just meow at them all the time and see what happens. You never know what someone could be going through when you meet them, and sometimes, kitties (and hoomans) just need the right environment to help them feel purrfectly safe. That's why we always take what shelters say about their cats with a grain of salt - because we don't know many cats that actually show their true colors while living there. Imagine how stressful it must be to be in a cage all day, surrounded by cats you don't know. To us, that sounds like heaven, but to another cat, that might be their worst nightmare. 

So when this kind purrson took a chance by adopting this long-standing shelter cat who was labeled as "extremely aggressive," we had a feeling it was going to work out for the best.
