Feb. 25th, 2005 10:34 amOh yeah! Oh yeah! Who da man? My mans' the man! Alex got the job at Peter Stevens!!! So totally thrilled for him, so happy I could just about be ill. When I heard the news at work over e-mail I lepat up screaming 'YESSSSSSS!' which really rather freaked everyone out, then the people I told at work that he was going for it got all excited. Of course had to call right away! Ended up punching Sarah Honey's locker to let off some of my excitement and I think I dinted it! Sorry, Sarah. *giggle* Of course had to go over to celebrate, we went to pancake parlour to celebrate. :-) Got Melissa's birthday prezzie since we close by to where I was going to get it anyway (not tell you, Melissa, stop digging), and then got Gina's prezzie from Borders.
Got to go get food and cakes for the party tonight. Have no idea how it turned into such a huge thing, it was only gonna be me, Al, Craig, Marion, TB and Gina, but it has turned into a HUGE thing. Hmmm, not exactly what I was thinking off when I was imagining a nice quiet jazz filled evening, but oh well, should be fun anyways.
Interesting job on the West Gate Bridge Fwy yesterday. At about 3am or so some dickhead decided it would be a good idea to stop his little sedan on the fwy. Fine, but if you gonna do that, pull into an emergency lane, hey? No, he decided to stop in the left hand lane. Just, fully stop. Poor petrol tanker driver trying to do the right thing was in the left lane rolling along, see's the car, tries desperatly to stop, no chance, pulls truck to the side, clips the car and sends it hurtling across the lanes. Truck ends up tipping over the embankment and onto the off ramp which was thankfully empty. The trucks rools, and explodes! Thank god the driver got out ok, the driver of the other car was alright as well but one of his passengers died. What a dick head. And I do believe the blood tests revealed drugs or alcohol or both.
The news had some INCREDIBLE home video footage of the flames and the explosion, it was amazing no one else died or was hurt. Just amazing. The fwy was closed until about 7pm or so yesterday, the worst thing was there was thousands and thousands of litres in that tanker and it all had to be destilled before it could be safely removed. I was wondering why the fwy seemed so empty whe I rode into work. Dickhead driver, has to live with that for the rest of his life, he killed his mate, what a total dickhead.
