ok-ay, I found this on bad-riding and emailed it to FHOTD... er, she put it up almost instantly.... have a watch of the YouTube link and a read of the comments. Mine's on page 4 I think (in YouTube, I don't often comment on FHOTD). Holy crap, what did I do!!!! LOL! Mind you, the kid should be taken away from this crazy bitch by Child Services asap; people this dumb shouldn't breed, seriously:

Now because my last post was a whine, I've popped some pretty pics NOT BY ME under the cut, just stuffed from emails etc. I want to shoot like this one day. Enjoy.

Ok seriously, the fact that this guy got the steam fogging up as the bird sang is just amazing. This pic is probably one of the single best bird photos I have ever seen in my life.

I like foxies :-)

Apparently it took this guy weeks of patiently setting up and feeding this little ermine before he got this shot. Ah animal photography, so time consuming, so difficult, so worth it for results like this.

Fergus you rock, my man

The guy was actually trying to photo something else entirely and just happened to glance over for a moment while waiting, and spotted this little fella. he quickly shot a snap, had no idea if it would work, the ermine disappeared seconds later. Beautiful. You couldn't have set it up better.

Find the fox!!!!!!!!!

This is what you can achieve if you leave the shutter open longer and use a damn good tripod :-) (next on my wish list)

I just wanna ride down this road

This one and the next one were sent to me in an email, I have no idea who took them or I'd credit them. Incredible photography! Butterflies are notoriously hard to shoot, mainly because most will fold their wings together when at rest. And they will not stay BLOODY STILL!!!

God... the clarity of these shots... how the hell did he'she do it??!?! You'd need a very bright sunny but overcast day, a very quick shutter and hella luck. Damn...

DUDE don't forget that AWESOME spiderweb under the bird's feet!!

those fluke shots are my favs.. thats how i nabbed my shadowed dressage pic.. I was waiting for my *cough* date *cough* to get back with our cokes, I turned around and went ZOMG! and set up the shot as fast as I could and clicked and hoped for the best... didn't even take a second shot (despite being on rapid-fire *gasp!*)

pfft! you dont need a tripod to get those shots! *L* you just need one or more of the following:
1) duck tape (don't knock it till you've tried it / watched someone else do it.. I have pictoral proof that it works!)
2) sturdy rocks
3) you lie down and rest your elbows on the ground and the camera back against your face - virtually nowhere to shake/move to unless someone kicks you in the stomach

I STILL haven't got a tripod so every photo i've ever taken has been hand-held... I'm waiting for my mom to "upgrade" her tripod (read: get a lighter one) and gift me her very sturdy, amazingly super awesome, slightly heavier than desired tripod :) I am DEFINATLY not looking that gift horse in the mouth *L*

and I LOVED the ermine shots (esp. the one with the toast and the blue/black tail! that is gorgeous!!! I want one!)

Oh nah I saw the spiderweb and yeah that's darned pretty, but I know how to shoot those so I'm not as amazed by it, the steamy bird-song is what got me the most :-)
I love that dressage shot you got. I agree, those random awesome shots are th best, I still get the grins thinking about that one I got of Desi running with the magpie. :-D
I know you can get plnety hella good shots without a tripod, hell I've only ever used one once in my life. Thing is tho because I want to learn to shoot when things are moving at speed i.e horses, birds, rabbits, 'roos, a tripod would be of enourmous help. I hit the deck to to shoot when I can but sometimes it's not practical, esp for birds and horses; I'd need a $2k lense to do what I wanted to do otherwise. A nice little mono-pod or tripod would be a luxery but one I would VERY much like one day. :-)
You don't wanna ermine.... just trust me on that. Get a ferret, much much less pain :-)

hahaha yeah.. monopods work WONDERS and I second you on the $2k lens... im lusting after one at the moment and its WAAAY outta my price range. I might put aside some of my money from this summer instead of getting a coffee every morning before work and get myself a nice lens.. I'm working off of one ATM and stealing others from my mom when I'm home *L* I think i might try to run away to school with her 17-200mm sigma and see if she notices LOL

The expensive lenses are fantastic. In my kit I have 2 Canon L class lenses with image stabilisation, each one worth over $2.5k, and they're well worth it.
