No book is safe....
5. Which book are you saving for “retirement?”
When it comes to books, I don't wait
6. Last page: read it first or wait til the end?
Wait til the end.
7. Acknowledgments: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?
Depends
8. Which book character would you switch places with?
Anyone who's a Herald of Valdemar, or a Dragonrider of Pern... bonus points to anyone who knows what the hell I just said :-D
9. Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)?
You really want me to write out my mental thesis here....?
10. Name a book you acquired in some interesting way.
I once found a massive, thick, heavy book left on the top of a ticket machine at Abbotsford station as I was going to work. It was a HUGE thick book about buildings and art in Venice. It was from a TAFE library and I called them once I was at work, almost killed me carrying it that far. Got their mailing address and sent it back to them but not before I devoured it, I was working as a receptionist at the Pharmacy Collage, a job I loathed with all my heart. I was sooooo miserable there but that book filled all 8 hours with beauty and a whole new world I never imagined existed. I got a beautiful thank you letter from the TAFE and only found out later the book was worth a few hundred $$$!!!!
11. Have you ever given away a book for a special reason to a special person?
A few yeah
12. Which book has been with you to the most places?
Ummmm. I think Twilight, that followed me to most Strike Team events this fire season.
13. Any “required reading” you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad ten years later?
God..... I think out of all the crap they forced on me to try and squash my love of reading, Sylvia Plath's crud was the absolute worst bunch of cat vomit I ever had to deal with. God god GOD I hate that woman. By the end I WANTED her to kill herself!!!!! Now I just want to make sure i never ever see anything of hers again; the homicidal rage has faded with time ;-)
14. What is the strangest item you’ve ever found in a book?
Photo of someone's kiddy playing on a swing set... in a swing-music history book :-D
15. Used or brand new?
I don't mind. I love the smell of old books and the feel that someone has shared this adventure before, but then again I loooove being the first to open a brand new book.
16. What was the last book you bought?
I honestly can't remember
17. Stephen King: Literary genius or opiate of the masses?
Frustrating SOB, his only saving grace was The Stand.
18. Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?
I don't think so, not that I can remember. Maybe X-Men because the comic was a bit boring.
19. Conversely, which book should NEVER have been introduced to celluloid?
Anything I have ever liked :-).
20. Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
My workmates Terri and Christine; they love the exact same stuff as me. Melissa has also put me on to a few good ones..
