when I was a kid hiding in the library to avoid the bullies, I once found a book with a picture of a girl in a sea cave with these little dragons sitting on her arm and flying around. I read the blurd and shortly thereafter was immersed in the world of Pern. I soon had all the books and dreamed of gold and green dragons. Today the author of that series which so sparked my imagination died of a stroke. Goodbye, Anne. And thank you.

I loved reading her books as a kid! My grandma and my mom all read them too. :) What a wonderful woman, she'll be missed.

I reckon she wasn't a very good writer, per say, but her IDEAS...JUST WOW! I adored the dragons of Pern, but never could get into her other books. I think it was the very concept of the dragons that I loved so much. Although I didn't mind her Acorna series too much.

I loved the Pern books, but I also really enjoyed the Crystal books and the sentient ship series. Its been a long time since I've picked up one of her books. It might be time to re-read one. :)
