yesterday we started taking live calls. I hate it. well, maybe not hate but really don't enjoy it. I feel like I'm not learning MY job. if I wanted to be a ct, I wld have applied to be a ct; I'm a DISPATCHER! and to date I've still not touched a dispatch screen. :(  adding to my frustration is the on going ridiculously juvenile behavior of Victoria and Lauren, who have progressed into the brave act of pulling stupid faces behind my back, until Ena and Caroline started letting them know they were being watched. apparently both freaked out on their first calls so badly they had to get off the phones, so the fact that after 5yrs at 000/911 no call in the world has the power to even begin to bother me so I just slid into it and didn't make any mistakes pissed them off no end. well, that's just what happens when you pay attention in class, ladies :p another full day Ct'ing today, Blergh.
now, Nigel. Silly dog thinks he can keep up with young Hari. On Monday he chased the ball with her across the park. Hit a patch of mud and fell. Screaming. Couldnt get his bck end up. WE FREAKED OUT! I ran Pokie and Hari home, grabbed the car and we raced to the emergency after hours vet. he could stand by then. At this stage looks like he dislocated his hip or something. he's on very exxy painkillers and we are to see how he improves by Monday. possibility he's done a tendons or a ligament. no walks, can't sit, just lay down. poor old man.
ok, time to go; too hard to type on the bus.

Yes it is, but itis also extremely frustrating and annoying. It's like your work taking you out onto the floor to work for about 6 weeks, and saying that this will help you do your current job better. Yeah it will give you a great background, but it isn't actually TEACHING YOU YOUR JOB. The others are basically doing their job now, I'm not - I'm basically being left behind as far as learning my actual job goes. It's driving me and the other dispatcher crazy!!!! We just found out not only do we have to do two weeks of call taking at the end of the training period, we also have to answer calls while we sit with dispatch to learn THAT part of the job :( I mean, WTF is with that?!?!?!?!? HTF am I meant to learn my job if i have to take the bloody calls at the same time?!?!?! There is just NO WAY.
