I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT!!!!!!!

Ok *gaaaassp, gaaaasp* let me calm down and explain. I saw an ad last week or so in Horsedeals (very large horse sales magazine and webpage for selling horses etc) asking for applications from interested people to be casual equine photographers for Derek O'Leary. (www.derekoleary.com) as they are HEAVILY booked up for summer. The ad is gone from the webpage but from what I remember they said they preferred experianced shooters, but would consider a novice if they showed the right attitude. Well, I figured hell what have I got to loose? What is the worst that could possibly happen? I get a no? That's not the end of the world, is it? So I sent off an email basically saying look, I have been shooting for a while now but I consider myself a novice and was very upfront about the fact I WILL need training on how to use a DSLR but I will work my ARSE off to prove myself if you give me a chance. Obviously I said SOMEthing right because I then got an email back saying they don't normally take on novices but they like my attitude and want to give me a try. He also liked the fact I am commonly available for weekday multi-day shoots as that is the hardest thing to get ppl to go to. It's very hard work, was I aware of that? I said yep and I LIKE hard work. Explained my background with horses and today TODAY JUST NOW I got an email asking me to make myself avaialble at the end of this month to have a trial shoot at the Werribe Interschools Championships!!!!!! I'll be GIVEN a DSLR to play with for the day and am to see what I can achieve with it. He's not expecting incredible professional shots, but wants to see how I frame, compose, interact, etc. This will be a non-paying shoot, obviously. If he likes what he see's, I will be put on the books as a trainee and can tag along to other shoots. IF I pass muster, for the first 6 or 7 shoots I will get $100 for the day. On top of that, I will be given a Canon DSLR with lenses and if required, a laptop. They remain property of Derek O'Leary obviously! Once I am getting what they consider professional shots, my pay goes up to $150 per shoot. I know it's not much, but OMG WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!
I'm shaking so hard right now.... :-D
