Caroline has started job hunting. Luke possibly resigned this morning.
Victoria has gone to call taking only. Lauren has gone to QLD call taking. Ena has gone into breeder mode.
I'm still not allowed to touch dispatch.
This is ridiculous.

got an interesting call today. Angry male, sounded aged 50's. Furious. We've towed his car from a clear way. DEMANDS I call the truck and get his car back to him. DEMANDS. How about....no. I attempt to help him with location etc. He goes utterly SPACKO at me. Four letter words and everything. I remain ice maiden. I let him know if he keeps speaking to me like that I will terminate the call. He keeps going.  I Hung up. Everyone in the room goes all Omg are you ok. I smile and say, guys, 5 years of 000. This git was an amateur :D Everyone in awe. My legend grows.

yesterday we started taking live calls. I hate it. well, maybe not hate but really don't enjoy it. I feel like I'm not learning MY job. if I wanted to be a ct, I wld have applied to be a ct; I'm a DISPATCHER! and to date I've still not touched a dispatch screen. :(  adding to my frustration is the on going ridiculously juvenile behavior of Victoria and Lauren, who have progressed into the brave act of pulling stupid faces behind my back, until Ena and Caroline started letting them know they were being watched. apparently both freaked out on their first calls so badly they had to get off the phones, so the fact that after 5yrs at 000/911 no call in the world has the power to even begin to bother me so I just slid into it and didn't make any mistakes pissed them off no end. well, that's just what happens when you pay attention in class, ladies :p another full day Ct'ing today, Blergh.
now, Nigel. Silly dog thinks he can keep up with young Hari. On Monday he chased the ball with her across the park. Hit a patch of mud and fell. Screaming. Couldnt get his bck end up. WE FREAKED OUT! I ran Pokie and Hari home, grabbed the car and we raced to the emergency after hours vet. he could stand by then. At this stage looks like he dislocated his hip or something. he's on very exxy painkillers and we are to see how he improves by Monday. possibility he's done a tendons or a ligament. no walks, can't sit, just lay down. poor old man.
ok, time to go; too hard to type on the bus.

hey guys, sorry been so quiet on lj, I get home late and not normally in the mood to stare at the laptop. things going well at Nationwide. I got seriously stressed doing the drive tho. Where I work is,a suburb called Blackburn, to get there I have to take the Great Monash Freeway Carpark :p its meant to be a freeway but its always deadly full. then I have to get off at Springvale rd which is INSANE. Can't catch the train even tho there is a station 5mins walk away as my local line doesn't connect! I was finding I was using the toll rd just to avoid having to spend an hour and 15 in traffic. so I looked at bus scheduling. there is a train-bus link up from my local station to Dandenong and then to Blackburn! so that's what I do now. I get to sit and read and relax, its only 30mins longer and far, far cheaper! can't beat that! won't be make to use it when I start normal shifts dye to my hours, but for the next few weeks its a god send. will be out of peak come norm shifts anyway. I'm currently reading book 2 of Game of Swords by George r r Martin, I find it hilarious how many ppl have jumped on the bandwagon because of the series....I've been reading his books since they were published :p wonder how many of the watchers actually READ the real thing. also started Rachael Treasure "Jillaroo" for some significantly lighter easier reading. enjoying it so far despite the painful stereotyping of Australia and its country community. it has horses and working dogs...it will do :) right, getting hard to type on moving bus so I'll catch you guys later. looking forward massively to 4 day weekend starting tomorrow! viva la Easter Egg season!

new job is alright. just been shadowing at the moment. on Monday I sat with a call taker named Kate, she was alright. yesterday I sat with dispatcher Tom who's pretty firey and a bit agro, I haven't really enjoyed sitting with him as I don't feel like I'm learning anything: I haven't even been allowed to touch the screen. I want to DISPATCH! Unfort there are also a lot of breeders here and yesterday they were talking about birth and I almost gagged on my lunch, it was just foul. In the arvo we went to 2 depots which was pretty cool, got to see the cars being brought in which had parked in clear ways. ppl were coming to get them and were all v angry, like somehow It's the towies fault they parked illegally and blocked traffic! gawd. There is another girl learning to be a dispatcher and a guy who is going to do interstate contracts, next week 2 new call takers are joining us and the real training begins. Thank dog! I WANT TO DISPATCH! It's killing me just sitting here, I'm a hands on learner. I've been watching and I think I can do the easy stuff now, if they'd just let me at it!!! meant to be going out in a truck today, been waiting an hour and a half now *sigh* at least they aren't breeder raving at the moment, thank the powers that be. AAAARGH LET ME DISPATCH!!!

I love both. Why? Because I believe if you love animals, truly love animals, you don't give in to stereotypes. You don't think all dogs are loyal, or all cats are aloof. You love an animal in and for itself. I simply love animals, all animals.

I just realised, I am quite possibly the last child-free person in my friendship group. Not that everyone has kids, but I think pretty much everyone wants them. Um, is anyone on here still childfree or you all want babies sooner or later?

Also, I am now reading We Need to Talk About Kevin. I'm only about 20 pages in but OMG it's good!!! It sort of reminds of me of Picoult's 19 Minutes.

Happy Australia Day, everyone!
YOU KNOW YOU'RE AUSTRALIAN IF:
* You believe that stubbies can be either drunk or worn.
* You're liable to burst out laughing whenever you hear of Americans "rooting" for something.
* You pronounce Melbourne as 'Mel-bin'.
* You know that "Yeah nah" is a perfectly acceptable answer, and you know it's meaning changes for each situation.
* You can translate: 'Dazza and Shazza played Acca Dacca on the way to Maccas.'
* You believe it makes perfect sense for a nation to decorate its highways with large fibreglass bananas, prawns and sheep.
* You think 'Woolloomooloo' is a perfectly reasonable name for a place.
* You're secretly proud of our killer wildlife.
* You believe it makes sense for a country to have a $1 coin that's twice as big as its $2 coin.
* You understand that 'Wagga Wagga' can be abbreviated to 'Wagga' but 'Woy Woy' can't be called 'Woy'.
* You believe that cooked-down axle grease makes a good breakfast spread. You've also squeezed it through Vita Wheats to make little Vegemite worms.
* You believe all famous Kiwis are actually Australian, until they stuff up, at which point they again become Kiwis.
* Beetroot with your Hamburger... Of course.
* You know that certain words must, by law, be shouted out during any rendition of the Angels' song 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again' And "Living next door to Alice".
* You believe that the confectionery known as the Wagon Wheel has become smaller with every passing year.
* You believe that the more you shorten someone's name the more you like them.
* Whatever your linguistic skills, you find yourself able to order takeaway fluently in every Asian language.
* You understand that 'excuse me' can sound rude, While 'scuse me' is always polite.
* You know what it's like to swallow a fly, on occasion via your nose.
* You know it's not summer until the steering wheel is too hot to handle and a seat belt buckle becomes a pretty good branding iron.
* Your biggest family argument over the summer concerned the rules for beach cricket.
* You shake your head in horror when companies try to market what they call 'Anzac cookies'.
* You still think of Kylie as 'that girl off Neighbours'.
* When working in a bar, you understand male customers will feel the need to offer an excuse whenever they order low-alcohol beer.
* You know how to abbreviate every word, all of which usually end in -o: arvo, combo, garbo, kero, metho, milko, muso, rego, servo, smoko, speedo, righto, goodo etc.
* You know that there is a universal place called "Woop Woop" located in the middle of nowhere...no matter where you actually are.
* You know that none of us actually drink Fosters beer, because it tastes like shit. But we let the world think we do. Because we can.
* You have some time in your life slept with Aeroguard on in the summer. Maybe even as perfume.
* You've only ever used the words - tops, ripper, sick, sweet - to mean good. And then you place 'bloody' in front of it when you REALLY mean it.
* You know that the barbecue is a political arena; the person holding the tongs is always the boss and usually a man. And the women make the Salad.
* You say 'no worries' quite often, whether you realise it or not.
* You understand what no wucking furries means.
* You've drank your tea/coffee/milo through a Tim Tam.
* You own a Bond's chesty. In several different colours.
* You know that roo meat tastes pretty good, But not as good as barra. Or a meat pie.
* You know that some people pronounce Australia like "Straya" and that's ok.
* You have a thong tan...not on your butt!
Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Aussies! OI, OI, OI

i have been given the full round at post as of today. they told me yesterday. this presents a problem, although its also really good that I have been given it so early; I can't make the 3pm start at the kennel/cattery now :( I told them yesterday that I had to give up the arvo. I still have weekends but I don't know how long that will last. I think I made the right decision tho. don't want to ride fast and under pressure - will end up having an accident. don't want to run late to every arvo shift, not fair to the others and they'd prob let me go. also,I have been exhausted doing the two, this shld allow me a little down time. Bugger tho :(
